Art Instructor

Job Title: Art Lab Instructor

Location: UCM Student Recreation and Wellness Center

Position Type: Part-time 10 hours per week

Pay Rate: $25 per hour

Start Date: August 11, 2025

Application Deadline: June 28, 2025

 

Interviews will be held July 8th-10th in person, or over Zoom. 

 

Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and creative music student to teach Art Lab as part of our program. The Art Lab Instructor will lead a dynamic, interdisciplinary educational experience for students of various ages. This position is ideal for a UCM music student who is eager to share their love of art and contribute to a vibrant, collaborative learning environment.
 

The Art Lab Instructor will guide students through a three-part curriculum that includes:

Art appreciation – exploring influential artists and works

Art fundamentals – teaching technique and the elements of art

Hands-on creation – leading students in engaging, skill-building projects
 

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Development: Work in partnership with UCM professors and the Program Director to design and implement lesson plans aligned with developmental learning standards.

Teach & Instruct: Facilitate weekly art lab classes that encourage exploration, creativity, and critical thinking through music.

Art Appreciation: Present engaging stories and historical context about a famous artist and lead class discussions to discuss the piece and discovered observations.

Invention & Exploration: Provide opportunities for students to apply what they’ve learned while inventing and exploring with different mediums, using age-appropriate methods. 

Showcase Events: Support students in preparing for end-of-semester showcases where they will present their original work to peers and families.

Administrative Tasks: Submit supply requests and help maintain classroom materials as needed.

 

Qualifications


Current UCM student majoring in Art.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Passion for arts education and child development.

Experience working with children or youth is preferred.

Ability to create an inclusive, engaging, and supportive classroom environment.
