Policy Research Lead (Full Time Internship - Remote)


 

Start Date: June 15, 2025 (or earlier)
Duration: 1 month (June 15 – July 15)
Stipend: $1,500

About the Role:
GIL is hiring an intern for the Policy Research Lead role to research and draft the Recommendations & Solutions section of a national safety report on women state legislators. This section (3,000–3,500 words) will offer clear, actionable insights across Policy, Resources, and Technology domains.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the GIL team to brainstorm and shape the section of the national safety report
  • Organize and synthesize existing data and insights already gathered by GIL
  • Lead and supervise a research assistant supporting this section’s development
  • Research and identify best practices, innovative models, and cutting-edge strategies across policy, resource, and technology domains
  • Coordinate/conduct interviews with experts, if needed, to deepen the solutions landscape
  • Develop a clear structure and narrative to present actionable recommendations for policymakers and public leaders
  • Integrate relevant case studies and current research to support findings
  • Participate in weekly check-ins with the GIL team for guidance and feedback
  • Submit an initial draft by the first week of July, followed by revisions
  • Finalize and submit the completed section by July 15, 2025

Ideal Candidate:

  • PhD (ABD) or equivalent experience in public policy, political science, or related field
  • 3+ years experience in policy analysis or applied research
  • Excellent writing and synthesis skills
  • Deep understanding of gender in public life
