Engineering Intern

Poudre Valley Rural Electric Association is seeking an Engineering Intern who wants an exciting work atmosphere and to be a part of a team dedicated to exceptional service for the summer.

The Engineering intern will gain experience in a fast-paced, results-focused, team environment while gaining valuable work experience by supporting our engineering team in maintaining and improving the reliability and efficiency of our electric distribution system.  The intern will gain hands-on experience working on projects related to system planning, load analysis, and infrastructure upgrades that directly impact the communities we serve. This is a great opportunity to learn how a member owned electric cooperative functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the analysis, modeling, and simulation of power distribution systems.
  • Support senior engineers in performing load flow, short circuit, and protection coordination studies.
  • Collect and interpret electrical system data and prepare technical documentation.
  • Assist with electric system data analysis for loads on the electric system and update system databases.
  • Assist in various equipment testing, testing documentation, and maintenance records as directed.

 Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) to three (3) years’ completion toward Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree is required.
  • Prior experience of system modeling, drafting, or mapping is preferred.
