Turtle Survival Alliance Communications Internship Program
The Turtle Survival Alliance (TSA) is offering a unique opportunity for self-motivated people to gain hands-on experience with the day-to-day operations of a non-profit chelonian conservation organization. The TSA is seeking applicants for a full-time internship position at its headquarters in N. Charleston, South Carolina. This is an opportunity to build real-world experience in content strategy, digital design, and communications.

Internship Prerequisite: Skills and training in advanced coursework in communications and marketing; degree in a related field preferred or in progress.
Meeting Times and Location: Hybrid (primarily from Greater Charleston, Greenville, or Monck’s Corner area; Remote is also a possibility)

Key Responsibilities:
Interns are expected to work independently and with TSA staff in a team setting to fulfill the operational needs of the Communications Department. All interns will assist with the general day-to-day operations of the Department. Responsibilities can include, but are not limited to:
- Create and design social media content across platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and more in line with our mission and brand.
- Work at the Turtle Survival Center in Cross, SC as needed to generate photography and videography for content creation.
- Design and schedule email marketing campaigns through Pardot.
- Support website content management and content creation including blog posts, landing pages, and event descriptions, and media archive.
- Manage multiple content projects with shifting priorities and deadlines.
- Collaborate with Development team members to align content initiatives.
- Provide administrative and creative support as needed.
- Assist in organizing and participating in virtual and, if possible, physical events related to turtle conservation.
Qualifications:
- Strong familiarity with Canva for content design, and video editing for Reels and TikTok.
- Some experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) preferred.
- Excellent written communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Highly organized, adaptable, and able to juggle multiple projects at once.
- Creative mindset with the ability to bring ideas to life visually and verbally.
- Clear communicator who thrives in a collaborative environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in progress or recently completed in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or a related field.
Work Environment:
- Team oriented environment in an office setting
- No housing is given with this program
- Deadlines and times of late hours due to the nature of fundraising/conservation projects
Availability and Attendance:
The TSA is seeking interns between late May to August, 25-30 hours a week. Dates can be flexible but applicants must be able to apply for a minimum of two months. Extensions for internships are on a case by case basis. Expected to work in person at our office 5-10 hours a week.
Compensation: $15/Hr
