Hayley Petit Injury and Violence Prevention Fellowship

The Hayley Petit Injury and Violence Prevention Fellowship

ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP: Four fellowship recipients will be selected for this exciting 10 week fellowship which runs from February - April  with Connecticut Children’s Injury Prevention Center (IPC). The fellowship provides recipients with an introduction to the field of injury prevention within the field of public health. Fellows will work with experts at the IPC to develop and design their own injury prevention-related project, which the fellows will present to representatives from the hospital, the Petit Family Foundation, and Dr. Petit. Selected fellows will participate in this immersion into the field of injury prevention through readings, discussions, and presentations by IPC faculty and staff. The fellowship is offered in person with most meetings held at 10 Columbus Boulevard in Hartford. Additionally, fellows may have the opportunity to participate in clinical job shadows and community outreach events.

Eligibility: The fellowship is open to students who identify as women, are able to receive federally taxed wages and are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or concurrent graduate and undergraduate degree-granting program of a college or university. Because meetings will be remote, it is essential that recipients have reliable high-speed internet access and a video camera for use during sessions. In addition to the 2-3 hours per week of live, in person meetings, students should expect to commit an additional 2-3 hours per week of independent reading and research.
