Company Overview: RELPro Events & Entertainment has been a vibrant force in the Tampa Bay event scene since 2017, providing a comprehensive range of services to create unforgettable experiences. We produce roughly 20 diverse events each month, catering to various needs and audiences across the Tampa Bay area. Our in-house capabilities include providing dance floors, professional sound and lighting systems, access to event spaces, a cutting-edge 360 video booth, strategic social media event marketing, comprehensive event planning and management, engaging event hosting and MC services, and innovative event creation from concept to execution. Department: Event Production & Entertainment
Supervisor: Darnell Macapinlac, Creative Event Architect
Duration: At least a semester-long internship or open to longer.
Objective: To gain practical experience in the technical and creative aspects of DJing for live events, learning about music selection, mixing techniques, and audience engagement within the context of RELPro's busy schedule of approximately 20 monthly events.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the lead DJ with equipment setup and breakdown at various event locations.
- Learn about sound system operation and basic troubleshooting across our different event setups.
- Develop music libraries and playlists for various event types we produce.
- Practice mixing and blending techniques under the guidance of the lead DJ, tailored to different event atmospheres.
- Potentially perform during events (with supervision and as skills develop) at select events.
- Assist with music research and staying up-to-date with current music trends relevant to our target audiences.
- Learn about reading the crowd and adapting music selections accordingly at live events.
- Potentially assist with creating promotional mixes or audio content for our events.
Learning Outcomes:
- Develop technical skills in DJ equipment operation and sound system basics relevant to live event production.
- Learn about music theory and beatmatching principles applicable to various music genres played at our events.
- Gain experience in curating and organizing music libraries suitable for diverse event types.
- Develop mixing and blending techniques for seamless transitions that enhance the event experience.
- Understand how to read an audience and adapt music selections to create the desired atmosphere at different events.
- Gain practical experience performing in front of a live audience (if applicable) at RELPro events.
- Learn about the professional aspects of being an event DJ within a company that produces a high volume of events.

- Currently enrolled student at the University of South Florida
