Call for Undergraduate Students: NSF REU Internship Opportunity in Research Computing
The Accelerating Research Computing at Texas A&M San Antonio (ARCATS) project, funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), is offering Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) opportunities for students interested in research computing.
We are seeking two motivated undergraduate students to participate in a research-intensive experience focused on cyberinfrastructure, High-Performance Computing (HPC), and advanced computational methods.
During the internship students will:
- Learn from and collaborate with HPC team from Texas A&M University – San Antonio.
- Contribute to significant Research, Development, Test, Evaluation & Acquisitions of HPC activities.
- Gain Hands-on experience in cutting edge computing projects.
- Develop critical skills and establish long-term connections.
- Gain a competitive advantage and improve long-term career opportunities.
Key Details
- Program Duration: Spring/Summer 2025 (5 Months)
- Funding: Each participant will receive a stipend as part of NSF’s REU support
- No. of Hours & Platform: 20 hrs./week & Hybrid
- Preferred Skills: Knowledge about HPC cluster and nodes, Python, & Linux command prompting

Eligibility:
- Undergraduate students with a strong interest in research computing, data science, or a related field. Prior experience with programming or computational research is preferred but not required.
- U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, or U.S. permanent residents
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Pursuing the degree and having a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on 4.0 scale.

- A letter of recommendation from a faculty member or mentor.
