PAID Intern - Sustainable Footwear Industrial or Fashion Design
Design Student Internship — BADI Shoes
Remote | Flexible 3-5 hrs Per Week | Paid at $20/hour
We’re looking for a curious design student who wants to get their hands dirty exploring new concepts in modular footwear, natural movement, sustainability, and system-based thinking.
This isn’t a corporate internship. It’s a chance to work directly with an independent designer and developer, a sustainable eco-conscious retail business owner, and a marketing and branding consultant on early-stage product exploration and future footwear systems.
You’ll be involved in sketching, research, material exploration, and ideation of interchangeable parts like fasteners, outsoles, and uppers.
The role is to design and iterate style concepts and help prepare the necessary drawings to pass along to a professional 3D designer and modeler.
If you’re interested in sustainable design, footwear, or modular systems, this is a space where you can experiment and apply your own thinking.
You’ll get to see how footwear ideas evolve — from napkin sketch to physical prototype — and contribute to a vision that doesn’t follow the rules of traditional footwear.
Expect freedom, creative dialogue, and some structure — but no busywork.
We’re especially interested in students who are:
- Studying industrial, footwear, product, or fashion design
- Strong concept sketching and visual thinking
- Curious about systems, repairability, and sustainability
- Not afraid to propose weird ideas or ask unexpected questions
- Comfortable knowledge of 3D design, modeling and/or AI is desired
This is a paid role at $20/hour, part-time, with flexible hours 16-20 hours PER MONTH.
meeting virtually once a week for a paid hour and no more than 4 hours of paid work per week.
You’ll be credited for your contributions and supported in growing your portfolio.
