Communications Summer Intern

 COMMUNICATIONS INTERN FOR
 THE NATIONAL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

 

When: Summer term

Minimum: 15 hours/week

Schedule: Flexible

Stipend: $1500 

 

The National Presbyterian Church (NPC) Communication Internship is a 15 hour per week commitment over the summer months and is under the direct supervision of the Church Communications Manager. The internship provides real-world communications experience and the opportunity for hands-on application and training with tools and skills learned in the classroom. Interns are expected to complete the internship with strengthened abilities and a broader understanding of their field of study. A $1,500 stipend is offered at the completion of the internship. NPC will consider extending the internship for the following school year. Please submit a resume and cover letter outlining your interest in the position.

 

Primary responsibilities include: 

  • Updating the church’s website content
  • Assisting with the development and design of print media (posters, brochures, etc.)
  • Assisting with drafting of weekly newsletter
  • Creating social media content to showcase NPC’s work and strengthen its mission and analyzing social media metrics
  • Monitoring and analyzing the impact of communications efforts
  • Administrative tasks as assigned

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and MS Office
  • Well-versed in social media platforms
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Team-oriented attitude
  • Currently enrolled in a 4-year university or master’s degree program in the communications field (Communications, Public Relations, Advertising, Graphic Design, etc.)

 

About The National Presbyterian Church: 

NPC is a vibrant multigenerational church with approximately 1,500 members from Maryland, D.C., and Virginia.  We host both traditional and contemporary services every Sunday. NPC offers a variety of classes and programs for adults, children and teens, guest speakers and concert series throughout the year.
