Position Type: Seasonal, Full-Time Position

Pay: $15/hour (No paid holidays, no overtime)

Duration: June – Early August (through completion of the Ohio State Fair, July 23–August 3, 2025)

Location: Ohio Expo Center and State Fairgrounds, Columbus, OH

Minimum Age Requirement: 18+

Position Overview:

The Ohio State Fair Sign Shop is seeking Seasonal Sign Shop Assistants to support the design, production, finishing, and installation of signage for the 2025 Ohio State Fair. This role involves hands-on work with banners, vinyl lettering, rigid signs, perforated window graphics, and more. On-the-job training is provided, but prior experience or schooling in graphic design, sign production, installation, or working with similar materials is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the design and development of basic Fair signage.
• Trim, cut, and prepare signage materials for installation, including banners, vinyl graphics, and rigid signs.
• Apply grommets, hem tape, and mounting materials for banners and signage.
• Weed and mask vinyl lettering and decals for application to various surfaces.
• Install and remove signage across the fairgrounds, including mounting on walls, fences, posts, and windows.
• Assist with perforated window graphics, directional signage, and large-scale event branding installations.
• Organize and stage signage for distribution and installation.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring tools and materials are properly stored.
• Follow safety protocols when handling materials and using cutting tools.

Schedule & Expectations:

• Full-time (40 hours per week) preferred.
• Position begins in Early June and runs through the Ohio State Fair. 
• Must work all 12 days of the Ohio State Fair (July 23–August 3).
• Expect extended hours (up to 60 hours/week) and possible weekend work in the two weeks leading up to the fair.

Ideal Candidate:

• Detail-oriented and reliable, able to follow instructions and complete tasks efficiently.
• Comfortable using basic hand tools, cutting equipment, ladders, and mounting materials (training provided).
• Physically capable of standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in outdoor conditions when needed.
• Able to work well under deadlines in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.
• Has an interest in design, signage, production, or event logistics (a plus, but not required).
