Background:
Green Tara Design is currently seeking interns for a Humanitarian Project based in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, India . Although the job is remote, arrangements can be made to visit the location and interact with the local team. The Pants Project started in September 2023 was created to provide training, development and employment to women sewers and tailors in the small town and surrounding villages of Dharamshala Northern India. The goal of the project is to empower women entrepreneurs, increase steady employment and promote sustainable income . The project also seeks to increase and foster and promote the story of Indian hand block printing, an eight generation craft using centuries old artisan techniques.
This is a unique opportunity for marketing and merchandising majors also interested in humanitarianism and fashion as well as working in and for a global international project based in India. Interviews are taking place now to start Spring 2025 Semesters and to form a Team of interns (2-5). Team members will be collectively and individually accountable for various responsibilities depending on their area of expertise, study, knowledge and interest. Working as a team will be a critical part of this internship and guaranteed training and development will be provided for team, management and leadership roles.
Responsibilities:
This part-time internship is remote and unpaid to start. Opportunities for salary and future roles in the company are possible as the company grows. Arrangements and stipend can be provided to visit and work directly with the project based in Dharamshala, HP, India. Study abroad opportunities may also be available.
Interviews are taking place now to start Spring Semester 2025, The Pants Project is seeking to form a Team of interns (2-5) who will work together on project management and be responsible for as a team :
Promotion of brand using the internet and other forms of digital communication
Create online desirability and traffic around our products
Drive brand awareness and lead generation through digital channels
Create posts and update content as well as monitor and handle social interactions and marketing campaigns
Engage in promotion collaborations and potential sponsorship of the project
Direct interaction with the project founder and creator on a weekly basis.
Opportunity to interact with the local project team based in India and possibly students from India based universities
Requirements:
Prior social media and digital marketing experience and proficient knowledge of use of social media platforms is required (please detail this in your resume, or you will not be considered for the position )
- CLASS YEAR : SOPHOMORE AND UP
- Commitment to women empowerment, sustainability
- Interest in humanitarian project work
- Interest in fashion design optional but desirable
- AGREEMENT to stay for the whole length of the internship (1+ semesters/2 trimesters)
- Access to a reliable computer and high-speed internet
- The internship is fully remote
- Interns should dedicate 5-10 hours each week to the internship but can be flexible
- Interns are required to attend 1-2 hour weekly team meetings online
- The position is unpaid, but interns are eligible for college credit, recommendation letters, training and development in team, management and leadership skills as well as individual mentoring
