Co-op in Materials R&D (Chemistry)

This is an exciting opportunity to apply classroom knowledge and learn new skills in the high-tech industry.  E Ink is the originator, pioneer, and commercial leader in ePaper technology. The Co-op will be an integral member of a team in Materials R&D that designs new polymer composite films used in next generation electronic paper displays.

This opportunity allows you to collaborate with a group of brilliant scientists and make a real impact. With a focus on Colloidal Science this position will be  particle surface modification, purification, and characterization. This position offers a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers in E Ink display performance characterization, electro-optical measurements, and display reliability testing.  The Co-op will also gain career-building experience to develop products from lab prototypes to a pilot scale production.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct particle surface treatment reactions under the guidance of a Senior Engineer.
  • Perform particle purification using novel techniques.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documents for instruments and equipment.
  • Set up experiments and collect electro-optical data for analysis.
  • Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a positive team culture.

 

Qualifications:

  • Major in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering (or related field).
  • Experience with wet chemistry is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with chemical reactions is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong documentation and technical writing abilities.
  • Experience in filtration techniques (such as TFF – Tangential Flow Filtration) is advantageous.

 

Benefits:

The anticipated base pay for this position is $30-40 per hour, DOE, for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay Area.
