Video Producer

The Village of Lansing is seeking a Video Producer who is a forward-thinking, visual storyteller with a background in creative media. The individual in this role will assist with the development and production of video content, with an emphasis on creating for social media and broadcast. A successful candidate will have experience across a variety of areas including pre-production, shooting, sound, editing and post-production. The candidate should love video work. The work week will be 40 hours Monday thru Friday. However, the schedule will be adjustable depending on weekend or evening events.  

GENERAL FUNCTION:

Under the general direction of the LNN Station Manager, you will develop multiple productions to help expand our channel's library of diverse content. As a Producer for LNN you will take on multiple responsibilities in the production process. You will identify, source, and shepherd creative from idea through delivery. You will write and review scripts, create schedules and shot lists and then use that plan to produce that project. You will work with a broad group of partners including village administration, multiple village departments, organizations, and businesses within and outside of the Village of Lansing. 

Responsibilities  

  • Must be a flexible Team Player and juggle multiple concurrent projects
  • Assist with every facet of video and creative services including ideating unique concepts, developing production plans, gathering input from stakeholders, scheduling, filming, and post-production work. 
  • Must be well organized and able to prioritize tasks as well as have the ability to efficiently manage multiple areas of responsibility with overlapping deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must possess the ability to provide customer service in a helpful, polite, tactful and efficient manner.
  • Must have good critical thinking skills and exemplary decision-making and judgment abilities. These abilities help in planning and setting programming. 
  • Requires active listening and learning ability, good communication skills, the ability to multitask and manage time and the ability to solve problems. 
  • Producers take an idea from its infancy all the way to public debut.
  • Oversee multiple projects and delivery to in house system and YouTube
  • Trains and assembles volunteer crews as needed.
  • Attends meetings with teams discussing productions, equipment needs, schedules, etc.
  • An understanding of video technology, partnered with the ability to teach those skills
  • Communicates regularly with production team and village administration to assert goals towards production.

 

Technical Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, MS Office, Windows Operating System, Adobe Photoshop.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field 
  • General understanding of Camera and Audio equipment
  • Experience with all stages of production
  • Experience editing, camera work, and audio recording
  • Other aspects of Production (producing, writing, etc.) is beneficial but not required
  • A portfolio and/or reel
  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment
  • Pass Background Check
