Research Laboratory Assistant

Role Description

This is a part-time, on-site role for a Research Assistant at Clutch Biotechnologies. This role will be responsible for conducting DNA cloning tasks, utilizing specialized software for DNA construction, and maintaining client biorepositories. This role involves hands-on laboratory work and collaboration with the other team members to facilitate efficient order initiation and fulfillment.

Shift & Schedule:

• Preference for availability on Saturdays and some weekdays, which will be determined based on project demands and operational needs.
• Part-time role with flexible weekly hours ranging from 8 to 32, depending on workload.

Key Responsibilities:

· Molecular Biology Techniques: Execute a range of molecular biology protocols with a primary focus on DNA cloning, including Golden Gate cloning, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), agarose gel electrophoresis, and basic microbiological techniques with precision and accuracy.

· Team Collaboration: Work closely with team members to support research projects, share insights, and contribute to a positive and productive work environment.

· Laboratory Maintenance: Assist in preparing media, pouring plates, and maintaining an organized inventory of reagent stocks. Ensure the laboratory is well-stocked and operational by managing supplies and equipment.

· Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.

Experience: Proven experience in molecular biology techniques, specifically DNA cloning (Golden Gate cloning), PCR, and agarose gel electrophoresis. Familiarity with basic microbiological methods is required.

Skills:

· Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.

· Meticulous maintenance of laboratory records.

· Proficiency in maintaining laboratory inventory and managing reagent stocks.
