ABOUT THE OFFICE:
The Office of Career & Leadership Development (CLD) supports students in making informed decisions about their career paths, education, and employment opportunities. We work in collaboration with employers, recruiters, faculty/staff, and student organizations to connect students with part-time jobs, internships, and full-time career positions. Student Assistants play an important role in representing the office with professionalism and providing a welcoming, helpful experience for all visitors.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Videographer Student Assistant will be responsible for creating engaging and informative video content that promotes CLD services, events, and resources. This includes end-to-end production — from concept development to final edits — for content used on our website, social media, and campus-wide marketing efforts.
💡 Note: Approximately 95% of this position focuses on video creation, with 5% dedicated to photography of CLD events.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with CLD program areas to determine video and photo needs.
- Regularly attend and capture video/photo at CLD events.
- Create video content for web and social media, including:
- Concept development
- Script writing
- Storyboarding
- Filming and directing
- Editing and post-production
- Organize and maintain a digital archive of video and photo assets.
- Monitor and maintain equipment and supply needs.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Participate in student assistant team meetings and required trainings.
- Provide a professional, welcoming, and inclusive environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience using DSLR and video cameras.
- Skilled in full-cycle video production (concept to post-production).
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro Studio, or similar.
- Understanding of pacing, transitions, and video flow.
- Ability to incorporate motion graphics and special effects is a plus.
- Creativity in presenting career-related content from a student’s perspective.
- Strong attention to detail and deadline-driven.
- Self-motivated and collaborative team player.
- Junior or Senior standing and in good academic standing.
- Receptive to constructive feedback and continuous improvement.
CLD OFFICE EXPECTATIONS / CULTURE:
- Support CLD events and services through planning and logistics.
- Promote events by distributing marketing materials and tabling on campus.
- Assist with social media and online calendar updates.
- Provide front desk support, including greeting visitors and answering phones.
- Respond to emails or forward them to the appropriate staff.
- Help maintain a clean, organized office and Career Computer Lab.
- Assist other CLD areas as needed (e.g., photocopying, tabling, errands).
