Rocky Mountain Public Media, home to Rocky Mountain PBS and KUVO radio, is the largest statewide, member- supported, multi-media network in Colorado. Rocky Mountain Public Media's mission is to strengthen the civic fabric in communities throughout Colorado, engaging audiences through high-quality, trusted programming, community programs and partnerships, and educational initiatives that inform, enlighten, and entertain.

KUVO Jazz and 104.7 THE DROP are seeking two qualified interns to join our Radio teams this Summer. As a non-profit organization, we are passionate about promoting dialogue, sharing stories, and empowering diverse communities through the power of radio. The Radio Operations internship will provide experiential learning experiences to two qualified and recent graduates who are interested in learning about the radio and music industry. This opportunity is geared toward students and recent graduates who articulate a strong desire enter the public or commercial radio industries, new media ventures or the music industry. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in community outreach, event planning, and audience engagement strategies.

This internship position will start with a small cohort of fellow interns in June, 2025. Selected candidates may expect to work anywhere from 10-12 weeks, depending on their class schedule. This internship opportunity offers 15-20 hours of work per week.


 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Attend station events and promotions/work promotion tables

Assist in video capturing & editing of guest interviews/events (KUVO Jazz & The DROP 104.7)

Assist with FCC compliance reports

Audio editing and/or translating of interviews for write-ups & articles for website publications

Record, produce and edit underwriting & promotional elements for on-air (KUVO Jazz/The DROP 104.7)

Help organize Blues & Jazz CD libraries - including digital file ingestion (KUVO Jazz)

Input & edit metadata of music & other promotional elements

Review transcriptions of interviews for accuracy

Create, capture, & assist with social media content of events & interviews

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OF POSITION

High school degree or equivalent; including college or university enrollment

Basic knowledge of audio editing software, social media, & audio/visual recording equipment

Passion for music, journalism, & community engagement

Ability to work well in a collaborative, fast-paced environment

Basic operational skills of Microsoft Word & Adobe

Ability to commit to 20 hours per week

Enthusiasm for local issues, culture, and community-driven storytelling

Strong verbal & written communication skills

Experience organizing community events/promotions a plus

Work Environment

This position works primarily in office, studio, editing, and/or field environments. This position must be able to work a flexible schedule with occasionally long hours including some evenings and weekends. Must be able to travel throughout the state and beyond, on occasion.
