Data Science and Reporting Consultant

Role: Data Science and Reporting Consultant (R)

What You’ll Do 

We seek a skilled Data Science and Reporting Consultant (R) to support a post-secondary education auditing project. This role involves creating visually appealing, data-driven reports and collaborating with stakeholders throughout the design and development process. 

The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, creativity, and a willingness to engage in multiple feedback cycles to deliver high-quality, user-friendly reports. This project will begin in March and will continue through July 2025. 

This is a part-time, project-based role and hours may vary by week.  

Key Responsibilities: ● Collaborate with the project team to understand report requirements and objectives. ● Develop R-based templates for report automation. ● Import and clean data, ensuring accuracy and consistency. ● Create clear, professional, and visually compelling data visualizations that effectively communicate insights. ● Optimize report layouts for readability and impact. ● Actively participate in multiple feedback cycles, incorporating input from stakeholders to refine report designs. ● Conduct thorough quality assurance (QA) processes to ensure accuracy, functionality, and visual appeal of reports. ● Stay informed about best practices and emerging trends in data visualization, particularly in higher education. 1 Who You Are and How You Will Succeed Required Qualifications:   ● Advanced proficiency in R, including R Markdown, ggplot2, and reporting packages. ● Strong understanding of data visualization principles and best practices, with the ability to convey complex information effectively. ● Experience in Shiny, Quarto, or similar tools is a plus. ● Experience working with structured datasets and automation workflows. ● Ability to communicate technical findings to a non-technical audience. ● Experience designing reports for professional or academic audiences, preferably in education. ● Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a feedback-rich environment. ● Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Candidates can be based anywhere within the United States, but they must have reliable connectivity and be willing to respond to emails consistently. The payment for this work is hourly ($70- $85 per hour) and based on experience. This is a short-term project, but it may lead to other opportunities with Resources for Learning.
