The YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester is looking to hire for full time, part time or per diem Gymnastic Instructors

Job Summary

Our philosophy is to teach gymnastics, build confidence and self-esteem through movement, music, themes and developmental progressions. Gymnastics Instructors must be dependable, enthusiastic, energetic, outgoing and love working with children. The instructors will supervise, instruct and lead toddlers, children and teens in our gymnastics facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instruct gymnastics class using the designated curriculum and lesson plans appropriate for the level of skill and age of participants. All lessons are developed using USA Gymnastics guidelines.
  • Responsible for setup of assigned classes.
  • Responsible for or assist in taking attendance on a daily basis.
  • Assist in coordinating exhibitions and demonstrations.
  • Maintain records, progress reports, incident reports, etc. for participants as required.
  • Attend staff meetings, workshops and clinics as scheduled.

Essential Experience

  • High School Diploma required, some level of college education preferred.
  • Prior gymnastic participatory experience and/or 2 years teaching experience.
  • Background in fitness (athletics, sports, dance, cheer, gymnastics, exercise science, kinesiology, or related field).

Licensing and/or Certifications:

  • USA Gymnastics/USA Independent Gymnastics Clubs Safety Certification
  • CPR and First Aid
  • KAT and PDP certification a plus

Key Attributes

  • Excellent communication skills
  • High energy level
  • Knowledge of USA Gymnastics levels
  • Must be proficient spotter

  • Function in a workplace that is usually moderately noisy but that can be very noisy at times.

Schedules:

  • Monday through Friday 3:45-6:30pm
  • Monday through Thursday 6:00-9:00pm
  • Saturdays 10:00-3:00pm
  • Saturdays 8:00-2:00pm
