The YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester is looking to hire for full time and part time Gymnastics Coaches for our Competitive and Invitational Teams.
Job Summary
The Gymnastics Coach provides leadership, instruction, and motivation to members of the Competitive and Invitational Teams. Demonstrates and promotes healthy and active living. Must support and extend the mission of the YWCA.
Key Responsibilities
- Arrive 10-15 minutes before schedule practice to prepare for activity.
- Able to communicate and work as part of a team.
- Must be willing and able to attend competitions as needed and scheduled.
- Learn and teach USA Gymnastics rules, skills and routines as needed.
- Follow proper use of correct spotting techniques.
- Keep practices challenging, creative, and fresh.
- Maintain excellent safety standards while coaching practices and competitions.
- Observe students at all times and refrain from performing drills that jeopardize the safety of children or staff.
- Maintain records as required, (i.e. attendance, progress reports, incident reports, etc).
- Respond immediately to any situation that arises.
- Notify the Director or Head Coach of any difficulties, safety issues or concerns.
- Develop positive relationships with students, parents and coworkers.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled
- Attend various continuing education meetings, workshops and seminars.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs; physical activity involved in spotting and moving equipment
- Maintain facility cleanliness including all apparatuses, events and dressing rooms– vacuum, sweep, wipe down surfaces, pick up garbage, etc.
- Follow all YWCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.
Essential Experience
- High school degree or equivalent required
- 3 years of experience coaching gymnastics
Licensing and/or Certifications
- USA Gymnastics Certification required
Key Attributes
- Excellent communication skills
- High energy level
- Knowledge of USAG levels and proficient spotter
- Must be able to lift and spot children, move mats and equipment

Each week over 4,000 women, children and their families are served through our childcare, nursery school, after-school, summer camp, athletic and mission-based programs.
