JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
The Rancho Cucamonga Community & Arts Foundation (RCCAAF) is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill the critical role of Executive Director. The next RCCAAF Executive Director should provide leadership, vision, professionalism, enthusiasm, and sincere passion for the arts working closely with the Foundation’s Board of Directors, staff, and members of the local arts community. This is a part-time, remote (work from home) position.
Background:
Founded in 1988 the Rancho Cucamonga Community & Arts Foundation is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization with the purpose of “raising funds to enrich our community by supporting, expanding & advancing arts and cultural opportunities” in Rancho Cucamonga. The Foundation is committed to a mission of bringing the arts to the center of community life through initiatives that focus on arts education in the schools, arts programming in the community, arts advocacy, and programs that nurture and support our local artists and arts organizations.
Position Available:
RCCAAF is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as Executive Director to advance the mission and agenda of the organization. RCCAAF provides programs and services to arts organizations, educators, youth, artists, and the general public in Rancho Cucamonga. The Foundation’s annual giving initiatives include Community Arts Grants, School Arts Program Sponsorships, Student Arts Scholarships, and ongoing program support for the Lewis Family Playhouse. Additionally, RCCAAF founded and supports the annual RC Community Arts Festival, held in April of each year.
Responsibilities: The Executive Director serves as the chief operating officer of the Foundation, working closely with and reporting to, the Board Chair and the Board of Directors. The Executive Director administers, directs, and/or oversees all programs, operations, and policies in addition to supervising a contracted staff of two, consisting of a Programs & Marketing Coordinator and a Bookkeeper.
The Executive Director works remotely, part-time, approx. 50 hours per month (12.5/week avg.). Monthly board meetings are held in person at the Foundation business address.
Primary areas of responsibility include:
Administrative Management (25%) – carries out all administrative responsibilities including: maintaining all required State and Federal filings; completion of 990 Form and annual tax filing; submit invoices for approval and payment; monitors budget and provides monthly budget update; oversees all ongoing contracts or partnerships; prepares reports and meeting agendas for Board and Executive Committee meetings.
Program Development and Management (15%) – develops, implements, and supervises programs and services that are consistent with the organization’s mission and Strategic Plan and that meet the needs of the community.
Fundraising Support (15%) – provides administrative support for Board initiated fundraisers (i.e. annual Golf Tournament, Bunco Event, etc.) which may include: secure necessary contracts; monitor event budget and sponsorship income; provide updates/ongoing communication to event committee; communicate marketing needs to Marketing Coordinator; provide onsite supervision at event.
Fund Development/Fiscal Management (15%) – together with the Board, develops and manages the fundraising and financial strategies of the organization; develops an annual budget for approval by the Board; oversees the management of all funds, consistent with the organization’s accounting system.
Communication / Community Relations (10%) – Maintains ongoing communication with Board Officers and Board Members, as needed, via email, phone, or in person; responds to email and phone inquiries; maintains ongoing communication with program partners; develops effective working relationships within the arts community.
Staff Leadership and Management (10%) – directs, supervises, and evaluates contracted staff positions; provides clear and direct project duties or responsibilities; coordinates work with staff and the Board’s committees.
Strategic Planning (10%) – in conjunction with the Board, develops and implements the organization’s Strategic Plan and annual action plans.
Conducts all business at the highest standard of integrity ensuring that all activities are legal and ethical.
Experience/Qualifications:
At least 5 years management experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization, with significant experience in the arts or a related area.
Outstanding written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong planning, organizational and analytical skills.
Experience in successful grant writing desirable.
Ability to positively motivate and develop staff, board, and volunteers and build consensus.
Ability to work collaboratively with all sectors of the community, the Board of Directors, and staff.
Priority consideration will be given to residents of Rancho Cucamonga or the surrounding area within the Inland Empire, with experience and knowledge of the local arts community.
This is a remote, part-time position working 50 hours per month, with great flexibility in workdays and hours. Monthly hours include a monthly in-person meeting with either the Executive Committee or the Board of Directors. The Executive Director will hold a significant role in all RCCAAF events, meetings, and fundraisers.
Compensation: Salary range, $30,000-36,000, commensurate with experience. A wage increase is eligible annually, after 1 year of employment, following a performance review by the Board Chair/Officers. Up to 20 hours of sick leave is available after 6 months of employment. Necessary equipment and supplies required to perform the work will be provided by RCCAAF.
