Tour Guide

Gooch and Fifty in Union County, Ga, revolves around local Union County history, its people, places, and things. In order to enhance the experience of the Gooch and Fifty project, the director is looking to find an operations manager, to get guided walking tours going in Downtown Blairsville, and is also looking for a good content creator who can make great social media content for their social media pages and to keep the website organized and up to date. 

Job Title-Tour Guides (3-5 positions): For guided tours, the director is looking for dependable, motivated, friendly, articulate, well spoken, loyal, and fun personalities who can remember scripts and who don't mind walking 1-2 miles per tour. They will also need them to be able to handle giving tours in the hotter summer months. This job would be seasonal as the director plans on having tours starting in March/April and lasting until October/November.

Qualifications: 

1. Dependability and Punctuality Strong commitment to being reliable and consistently available to fill scheduled tours as needed. Must adhere to tour schedules, arrive on time, and be prepared to lead groups without delays. Ability to manage time effectively, ensuring tours start and end as planned. 

2. Knowledge of Tour Locations and Facts Ability to memorize and accurately present key facts, historical information, and engaging stories for each tour location. Strong research skills to stay updated on any changes to the facts or highlights of the tours. Ability to deliver facts in a clear, engaging, and educational manner that captivates diverse audiences. 

3. Excellent Communication Skills Exceptional verbal communication skills to deliver clear and engaging presentations to tour groups. Ability to adjust communication style to suit different group sizes, ages, and backgrounds. Comfortable answering questions from customers during the tour, providing thoughtful, knowledgeable responses that enhance the overall experience. 

4. Customer Service and Interaction Strong customer service orientation, with the ability to engage positively with participants, creating a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere. Ability to handle customer concerns or issues with professionalism and courtesy during the tour. Skilled at keeping participants engaged, entertained, and informed while maintaining a friendly, approachable demeanor. 

5. Physical Stamina and Endurance Ability to walk for extended periods while managing the energy and attention of a group. Comfortable leading groups through various outdoor environments and diverse weather conditions. 

6. Adaptability and Flexibility Ability to adapt to unexpected changes, such as weather disruptions, large crowds, or schedule changes. Quick to make adjustments to the tour route, pace, or information based on real-time needs or customer requests. 

7. Team Collaboration Able to work closely with other tour guides, tour managers, and the business owner to ensure smooth coordination of schedules, guest needs, and special requests. Willingness to share insights and collaborate on improving tours and guest experiences. 

8. Positive Attitude and Enthusiasm Enthusiastic about sharing knowledge and creating memorable experiences for customers. Ability to maintain a positive and engaging demeanor even in challenging situations or with difficult customers. Demonstrated passion for history, culture, or the specific focus of the tours being provided. 

9. Safety Awareness Knowledgeable about safety protocols, emergency procedures, and ensuring the well-being of guests throughout the tour. Able to handle group dynamics responsibly, ensuring that all guests are accounted for and safe during the experience. 

10. Previous Tour Guide or Public Speaking Experience (Preferred) Prior experience in guiding tours or leading groups is preferred but not required. Comfort with public speaking, storytelling, and engaging an audience is essential. 

A successful Walking Guided Tours Tour Guide must be dependable, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic, with the ability to communicate effectively and make each tour a memorable experience for participants.
