Assistant to Historical Organization Management.
The Grand Lake Area Historical Society is located in the historic, rustic town of Grand Lake, Colorado with beautiful surroundings and the adjacent Rocky Mountain National Park. The Historical Society operates the Kauffman House and Cottage Court Museums, provides archival and research services, and hosts many events for thousands of visitors during the summer season, all with a volunteer staff.
In addition to our ongoing summer season activities, we have begun the final phase of development for a new historical site, the Cottage Court History Park. We are looking for an enthusiastic intern with a passion for history and historical preservation, someone who will initially rotate through our areas of responsibility, working and learning alongside staff, but someone who might also choose to work primarily with one or more aspects of our work that match particular skill sets, strengths or interests. We want someone who enjoys engaging with our volunteers and visitors, accepts designated projects, has effective verbal and written communication skills, and is comfortable assuming guided leadership to manage and be accountable for individual endeavors.
The internship requires 30 hours of on-site work each week for approximately 9 weeks, ideally late June 2nd through August 1st. Intern should be enrolled in 3rd or 4th year of college, or in a college graduate program, with some prior experience preferred. The internship pays $18 per hour across the duration of the program. Housing is not provided, but staff will help find housing options. Applications must be received by February 28, 2025.

- Coordinate the physical setting up and taking down for programs/events.
- Serve as a tour guide at the Kauffman House and Cottage Court Museums.
- Serve as a coordinator of museum and events volunteers.
- Work with researching materials as required.
