About the Duke-Margolis Summer Experience Internship Program 

The Duke- Margolis Summer Experience Program is a 10week summer internship program that offers students opportunities to contribute to a variety of health policy projects through a collaborative and mentored summer research experience.

 

Project Job Description 

Focus Topic: Biomedical Innovation, Evidence Development, Health Equity, Real World Evidence

This project will explore issues within and/or at the intersection of real-world evidence and precision medicine policy to identify opportunities to address knowledge and educational gaps and inform local, state, and national decision-makers and policymakers. This work will encompass background research, literature review, interview guide development, and creating an effective graphic to communicate real-world data and evidence (RWD/E) issues to policymakers

  • Deliverable 1: Literature review
  • Deliverable 2: Interview guide for policy professionals
  • Deliverable 3: Infographic on policy or practice implementation

Preferred Intern Skills

  • Experience working with various information and data visualization software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint; SPSS or STATA; Canva or Flourish)
  • Interest in building qualitative or quantitative research methods skills
  • Interest in building written or oral communication skills

Majors/Minors: no preference 

Education Level: 3rd year & 4th year UG/Masters/PhD level

Program Dates: May 19- July 25, 2025
