Studio Assistant

We are an art/design/technology lifestyle startup headquartered in Irvine, California with a fashion/design office in Seoul, South Korea. Our brand spans multiple touchpoints including digital art, social media software, AI media art, fashion, music, and literature. 

Role Overview 

We are looking for a Studio Assistant to help us execute on a variety of projects within our hybrid digital-physical artmaking practice. The ideal candidate should be flexible, creative, organized, and enthusiastic about working in collaborative art environments. Responsibilities for this role will vary widely and require an open-minded and adaptable individual who thrives in unfamiliar environments.

Position Context

  • Reports to Studio Director
  • Supports various aspects of art production and projects
  • Interfaces with galleries, institutions, and collaborators
  • Manages digital asset organization and editing
  • Facilitates cross-cultural artistic collaborations
  • Contributes to creative project execution

Key Responsibilities

Project Coordination:

  • Coordinate the logistics of art projects from start to completion
  • Facilitate and manage assembly lines of industrial digital artmaking
  • Manage project timelines and resource allocation
  • Support multiple concurrent art productions
  • Document project progress and maintain archives
  • Assist with installation and presentation needs

Digital Production:

  • Edit and organize digital material using video and photo editing software
  • Maintain digital asset libraries and archives
  • Process and prepare artwork files for various outputs
  • Support digital art production workflows
  • Assist with documentation of artworks
  • Manage file organization and backup systems

Communications & Outreach:

  • Manage communications between Remilia and art galleries, institutions, and publications
  • Facilitate collaborations between Remilia and 3rd parties
  • Keep up to date with the latest trends in art and culture emerging online
  • Support social media and online presence
  • Assist with exhibition coordination
  • Help maintain relationships with art community

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a BFA or MFA program
  • Familiarity with contemporary art
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to pick up new skills
  • Familiarity with online culture
  • Experience with video editing software
  • Experience with photo editing software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in artist studios
  • Deep knowledge of online culture and new net art
  • Experience with running an art practice
  • Ability to communicate cross-culturally
  • Drawing, painting, or other demonstrated skills with visual art
  • Experience collaborating with artists and other non-traditional workers

Location & Team Structure

  • Based in Orange County, California
  • Full-time in-person preferred
  • Part-time possible while in school
  • Hybrid possible for Southern California candidates
  • Reports to Studio Director
  • Works closely with creative team
  • Collaborates with various artists and partners

Location 

On-site in our office at the University of Irvine research campus.
