3D Technical Designer/Modeler

Job Title: 3D Technical Designer/Modeler for Consumer Products (including Footwear, Accessories and Car Interiors)

Location: Raleigh NC (preferred) or Portland OR

The Role:

We’re looking for a 3D Designer to join our Creative Design Team, contributing to innovative projects that push the boundaries of consumer product design.  This is a dynamic role where you'll bring concepts to life by transforming ideas from the team into refined 3D models ready for production.  While a key part of your work will involve collaborating to execute and implement design visions, there will also be opportunities to shape creative directions and contribute your own insights to the design process.

Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with the team to transform design concepts into high-quality, production-ready 3D models

- Create highly detailed 3D models for consumer product applications, focusing on surface complexity and production readiness

- Develop 3D models optimized for mold creation and manufacturing processes

- Generate detailed and realistic renderings to communicate design intent with a variety of shareholders

- Provide loose 3D ideation to quickly capture product concepts and support design exploration when necessary

- Bring a creative perspective to enhance and refine designs while ensuring alignment with project goals

- Work within project timelines and adapt to changes as needed

Key Qualifications:

- Proficient in Photoshop & Illustrator, Rhino (& Grasshopper), Zbrush, Blender, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, Houdini, Autodesk (Inventor, Fusion 360, 3Ds Max), Cinema4D and Keyshot.

- Experience creating complex 3D surfaces, ideally for consumer products like footwear, accessories, or other molded items

- Knowledge of preparing 3D files for manufacturing and mold creation.

- Understanding of NURBS modeling, parametric modeling, SubD modeling, mesh modeling, as well as surface topology, UV mapping and material texturing.

- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to execute designs precisely and deliver production-ready models.

Preferred but Not Required:

Previous experience in the footwear industry or similar consumer goods sectors.
