Postdoc in Immunometabolism

With more than 16,000 students and 3,800 employees, the Technische Universität Braunschweig is one of Germany´s leading institutes of technology. It stands for strategic and performance-oriented thinking and acting, relevant research, committed teaching, and the successful transfer of knowledge and technologies to the economy and society. We consistently advocate for family friendliness and equal opportunities.

Our research focuses are mobility, engineering for health, metrology, and city of the future. Strong engineering and natural sciences are our core disciplines. These are closely interconnected with economics, social and educational sciences and humanities.

Our campus is located in the midst of one of the most research-intensive regions in Europe. We work successfully together with over 20 research institutions in our neighborhood as we do with our international partner universities.

Starting from the earliest possible date, the Immunometabolism Group at the Department of Biochemistry and Bioinformatics is looking for a highly motivated

Your tasks

  • You will work on interdisciplinary research projects aimed at unraveling metabolic regulation of immune cells and their epigenetic modulation, with a particular emphasis on:
    • Metabolic profiling using stable isotope labeling techniques
    • Primary immune cell cultures and functional analyses
    • Massspectrometry-based metabolomics
    • Exploration of immune-metabolic interactions and inter-organ crosstalk
  • Your tasks and responsibilities for research:
    • Conduct experiments involving metabolic flux analysis, stable isotope tracing, and immune cell culture
    • Integrate metabolomics data with functional studies on immune cells
    • Collaborate on projects exploring immune-metabolic communication in disease models.
    • Perform high-quality data analysis and contribute to manuscript preparation
  • You will publish research findings and participate in national and international conferences
  • The position will involve collaboration with internal and external research groups across disciplines, providing excellent opportunities for scientific exchange and development.

Your Qualifications

  • You have excellent communication skills in English (written and oral)
  • You have very good knowledge in one of the following:
    • Metabolism research
    • Mass spectrometry-based metabolomics
    • Cell culture of immune cells
    • Biochemical pathways, central carbon metabolism
  • You are ambitious and team-oriented
  • Experience with stable isotope labeling techniques and metabolic flux analysis would be an advantage.

We offer

  • A stimulating, international and collaborative research environment
  • Access to state-of-the-art facilities, including metabolomics and stable isotope labeling platforms and high-end mass-spectrometry
  • Opportunities to contribute to cutting-edge interdisciplinary research projects
