Residential Youth Counselor

Bonnie Brae currently has great career opportunities for Residential Youth Counselors.  These positions provide supervision, counseling, behavior management and monitoring of the basic needs for the boys who live in cottages on campus.  You will work with the interdisciplinary treatment team members to develop individual treatment plans which guide the Residential Youth Counselor’s interactions with each resident.  The daily cottage program is conducted by the Residential Youth Counselor to address group behavior and needs. Responsibilities include leading resident group meetings, coordinating recreation activities, participating in other group functions and physical plant management.

Shifts are:

  • 3 PM – 11 PM, including weekends
  • 11 PM – 9 AM, including weekends

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (all majors welcome) OR
  • High School Diploma with 1 year of experience providing direct care to youth in a behavioral health or similar setting.
  • Recreation experience a plus.

Salary:

First-year Counselors earn between $48,000– $60,000/year: 

  • Starting pay rate between $21 - $22/hour
  • Sign-on bonus of $500 
  • Quarterly bonus potential to earn an extra $3,000 in first year, and up to $5,000/year thereafter 
  • OT is typically available
  • Work on company-designated holidays is payable at double-time
