Location: Chicago, Local Hire Only
Type: 3-Month Contract (with potential for extension)
Hours: Approximately 200 hours (possibility of additional hours)
Pay: $20-$30/hour, based on experience

About the Role:
We’re seeking a talented and detail-oriented Assistant Video Editor with 1-2 years of experience who is passionate about documentary-style filmmaking. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in a collaborative, creative environment. The role will require a local hire who can work in our office 2-3 times a week.

Responsibilities:

• Ingesting and organizing raw footage.
• Reviewing and pulling select sound bites from interviews and raw materials.
• Assisting with simple edits for short promotional videos.
• Applying basic color correction and grading to enhance visual consistency.
• Performing basic sound leveling to ensure clean and professional audio.
• Supporting the post-production workflow to ensure smooth and efficient project delivery.

Qualifications:

• 1-2 years of professional experience in video editing or post-production.
• Proficiency in industry-standard editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro required; familiarity with DaVinci Resolve for color grading and After Effects for basic animation is a bonus).
• Strong understanding of basic color correction and grading techniques.
• Experience with audio post-production, including sound leveling and noise reduction.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Interest in documentary-style storytelling and the filmmaking process.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
• Must be a local hire and available to work on-site 2-3 times per week.

Contract Details:

• Duration: 3 months, with the possibility of extension.
• Hours: Approx. 200 hours, with flexibility for additional hours if needed.
• Pay: $20-$30/hour, based on experience.
