About First State Educate (FSE):
FSE is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering Delawareans to improve student outcomes by strengthening local leadership and school boards. We believe that high-quality public education and strong school governance are the cornerstones of community success.
Internship Focus:
FSE is seeking a motivated intern pursuing studies in education, public policy, or a related field to assist with research and writing projects aimed at raising awareness about the importance of local school boards in Delaware. This is an opportunity to contribute to creating impactful resources that will educate stakeholders and support our mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and develop fact sheets, one-pagers, and issue briefs on topics related to Delaware school boards and public education.
- Synthesize data and information to clearly communicate the importance of school boards as the most accessible form of government.
- Highlight the role of public education in driving community and economic growth.
- Tailor materials for diverse audiences, including community members, corporate leaders, and policymakers.
- Collaborate with the FSE team to ensure materials are accurate, well-organized, and aligned with our mission.
Qualifications:
- Current student or recent graduate in education, public policy, political science, or a related field.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into accessible formats.
- Excellent writing skills, with attention to clarity, tone, and audience appropriateness.
- Interest in education policy and governance, particularly school boards.
- Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality products.
Internship Details:
- Duration: 8–12 weeks (flexible start and end dates).
- Hours: 10–15 hours per week (flexible schedule).
- Location: Remote
