Music Teacher Intern

Internship Opportunity: Music Teacher – Baltimore, MD     (Contract Position)


 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated Music Teacher intern at Ell Jam, a dynamic and passionate music education company in Baltimore City/ County. This internship offers an exciting opportunity for someone who loves music and teaching, with a focus on working with (but not limited to) young children.


 

As an intern, you'll play a key role in interacting with different students and teachers and you will have the freedom to create a unique learning environment that caters to each class. Music Teachers who work at Ell Jam are given training and development to help them grow into strong leaders and communicators. Internship Details:

  • Position Type: Internship (Contract Position)
  • Location: Baltimore City/County, MD
  • Hours: Monday – Friday, flexible hours within 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM (with opportunity for evenings)
  • Compensation: $12 per hour


 

Responsibilities:

  • Travel to schools or homes on your designated schedule
  • Prepare and Teach weekly assigned music curriculum
  • Uphold to Ell Jam standards such as:
  1. Uniform and Hygiene Standards
  2. Communication Standards
  • Create a fun and supportive environment where students feel comfortable participating.
  • Conduct Beginner Piano Group and Private Lessons
  • Create a Positive Learning Environment
  • Continuously Improve Teaching Practices
  • Represent the company positively by fostering strong relationships with each client.
  • Communicate nightly recaps of each class to the client.
  • Substitute for a class within the same or a neighboring county when necessary.
  • Assist with any day to day needs of the business when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in music education or a related field (preferred but not required).
  • Basic piano/music skills and an understanding of music theory and notation.
  • Previous experience working with preschool to kindergarten (preferred)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students of all ages.
  • You must be hard-working, team-oriented, friendly, energetic, and honest
  • Patience, empathy, willingness to learn, and a genuine passion for teaching music.
  • Reliable and punctual, with the ability to commit to daytime/evening hours.
  • Be available to work your schedule. Time off can be given with advance notice.
  • You must have a personal car, car insurance, and a valid driver's license.
  • You must be willing to travel to each destination.
  • Must be willing to complete a background check.
  • Be authorized to work in the United States
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to take ownership of assignments
