Graduate College – Graphic Design GA Position
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Assistant to support the Graduate College’s Director of Communications & Marketing and Multimedia Manager in creating visual content. As a Graduate Assistant, you will be responsible for designing graphics, developing visual assets for social media platforms, and creating announcements that will be shared with the entire Graduate College community.
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate strong graphic design skills with proficiency in industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.), MS Office, and basic web design tools. You should have a solid understanding of visual communication principles and be passionate about creating engaging, professional, and impactful designs.
In addition to technical expertise, the ideal candidate is an independent worker who can self-motivate, manage multiple design projects, and meet deadlines effectively. We are looking for someone who is punctual, collaborative, and eager to learn while contributing creatively to the Graduate College team.
The candidate will perform tasks such as the following:
- Designing visual content for various Graduate College events and communications (e.g., flyers, posters, social media graphics, digital banners, presentations).
- Develop visually engaging designs for the Graduate College website and digital communications, ensuring consistency with branding guidelines.
- Collaborate with the communications team to support and execute visual elements of communication campaigns.
- Manage and update design assets, templates, and resources in shared platforms (e.g., Google Drive, Adobe Cloud).
- Demonstrate strong graphic design skills with proficiency in industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.), MS Office, and basic web design tools.
- Be comfortable managing multiple design projects with varying deadlines and deliverables.
- Create and maintain visual guidelines and Business Process Guides related to design standards and workflows.
- Provide design support for the Director of Communications in additional initiatives, including special projects, events, and campaign materials, ensuring visual consistency and alignment with the Graduate College's branding. May also be tasked with additional duties as needed to support the team and contribute to the Graduate College’s overall mission.

- Admitted to UNLV as a degree seeking graduate student
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to craft clear, concise, customer service friendly messages
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Adobe
This is a part-time position that requires a commitment of 20 hours per week. Sample Assignment
As the Director of Communications’ Graduate Assistant you will be responsible for producing high quality graphic design that will be used to represent the university. This assignment is designed to showcase your skills and creativity. Please submit two designs, one 1080x1920 (Instagram/Facebook Story Posts) and one 1080x1080 (square), that are on-brand with UNLV's colors, themes, and fonts.
