EAC Mathematics Graduate Thesis Accommodation Assistant
Accommodation Assistants are employees of the Educational Access Center (EAC: http://boisestate.edu/eac).
An Accommodation Assistant is expected to strive to accomplish the primary objectives of the department. The position requires empathy, energy, commitment, self-discipline, knowledge of campus resources, commitment to being inclusive, critical thinking and problem solving skills. The position also requires a positive attitude towards working with diverse populations and supporting the Educational Access Center's mission to empower students to accomplish their educational goals by advancing access and promoting Universal Design for Learning.
Accommodation Assistants are university representatives and are to abide by university policies; state, federal, and local laws; in their relationships and contacts both on and off campus throughout the duration of their appointment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required:
- An ideal candidate would be someone who has previously completed a graduate level mathematics thesis or someone who is currently completing a graduate level mathematics thesis.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities preferred:
- Experience working with humans with disabilities, specifically sensory disabilities (hearing, vision).
- Technical abilities - knowledge of general computer accessibility capabilities.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Case Management & Alternative Format Support:
- Assist to format thesis materials visually as per Graduate College Formatting Requirements and LaTex Template
- Assist tracking of inaccessible citations
- Acquire information needed from source and assist student to apply formal citation formatting
- Assist to describe and add images to thesis materials
- Visual and formatting support during submission of thesis to the graduate college as per Graduate College Formatting Requirements
- Co-receive feedback via notes on PDF file with student. Those notes will not be accessible and this role will assist to interpret/implement feedback provided from Graduate College via this method.
