Field Measurer/Technical Design Associate

We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Field Measurer/Technical Design Associate to join our team and assist in accurately gathering space measurements for our design projects and generating layout and elevation drawings utilizing design software.

Job Overview:

In this role you will be responsible for visiting client sites to measure spaces accurately and collect data essential for the interior design process. Your role will provide essential information that allows our designers to create beautiful designs built to specification.  The ideal candidate should be highly organized, detail-oriented, and have strong technical skills. The ability to work independently and in collaboration with our design team is required. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct On-Site Measurements: Visit client locations to measure the dimensions of rooms, walls, windows, doors, ceilings, and other relevant features in residential and commercial spaces.
  • Document Data: Accurately record measurements, details of architectural elements, and any relevant observations (e.g., ceiling heights, structural features) in an organized and clear manner.
  • Document Site Conditions: Record and document any site-specific conditions or constraints that may affect the design or construction process (e.g., structural elements, electrical outlets, plumbing, etc.).
  • Generate Detailed Floor Plans: Develop accurate floor plans, layouts, and elevations based on site measurements using AutoCAD or other design software.
  • Collaborate with Design Team: Communicate effectively with interior designers, project managers, and architects to ensure all data collected aligns with design requirements and project goals.
  • Update and Modify Plans: Make adjustments to plans and drawings based on feedback from the design team, clients, or changes in the project scope.
  • Client Interaction: Occasionally interact with clients on-site, answering basic questions and providing a professional representation of the company.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 
    • Previous experience in a similar role or in the construction, design, or architecture industries is preferred.
    • Strong experience with AutoCAD or other 2D/3D design software (e.g., Revit, SketchUp).
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in using measurement tools (laser distance meters, tape measures, digital floor plan tools).
    • Ability to read and interpret architectural and design plans.
    • Proficient in creating detailed, precise floor plans, layouts, and elevations.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
    • Basic knowledge of interior design principles is a plus.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to move and carry measurement equipment, bend, crouch, and climb stairs or ladders as required on-site.
  • Communication: Strong verbal communication skills for collaborating with team members and clients.
  • Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with digital tools and software for creating floor plans (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, or other design software).  Ability to work with both digital and physical measurement tools (e.g., laser measurers, tape measures).

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation to travel to client locations.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
