Research Scientist I/II
The Clark County Water Reclamation District is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Research Scientist I/II position. This position will be primarily responsible for:
- Designing and performing analytical research on sample to identify/detect the concentrations of illicit drugs, high risk substances, pharmaceuticals, and personal care products (P&PCPs), per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), and other trace organic compounds (TOrCs) in water and wastewater.
- Using various sample preparation and analysis techniques, such as solid phase extraction and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).
- Designing sampling plans and developing methods to meet objectives.
- Processing and interpreting data; writing and improving procedures.
- Generating reports and internally communicating conclusions and recommendations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:
- Level I:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or biology or a field related to the specific research to be performed,
- and two (2) years of experience executing analyses and studies in the specific area of research related to water or wastewater, specifically of interest to the District.
- Advanced degrees in science, such as Master’s or PhD are preferred.
- Equivalent combinations education and experience may be considered.
- Incumbents may advance from Level I to Level II after gaining experience and demonstrating proficiency which meets the qualifications for the higher level.

Licenses/Certifications:
- Possess a valid Nevada Class [C] driver's license at time of appointment.
Background Investigation:
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Additional background investigations may be conducted periodically after employment.

- Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
Working Conditions:
