VA 125416 VISUAL INFORMATION SPECIALIST (aka Senior Designer/Art Director)

The Defense Intelligence Agency is hiring Senior Designer/Art Director in our Pentagon, VA and Hawaii locations. This position does require shift work (NCR location M-F,  11am - 7pm, other locations TBD). On a daily basis, you will be supporting Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Analysis Directorate (J2/J22) analytical production. You will collaborate with customers, analysts and leaders to develop concepts, visualize data, and tell stories visually. As a design lead you will guide designers, editors, and analysts on daily creation and methods for producing  products, customer briefings, and other projects. Use expert communications skills both written and oral to provide clear design direction, guidance and instruction throughout the design product lifecycle to key stakeholders.

You will be asked to…

  • Provide art direction based on established design standards, perform quality control, and relay feedback to other designers and analysts.
  • Manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • Anticipates problems and obstacles associated with moderately complex projects and proactively develop creative solutions to address them prior to implementation.
  • Mentors other designers in processes and methods for making complex information easy to understand using visual storytelling, infographic and visualization design principles.
  • Expert knowledge/skill with design process and techniques in typography, layout, and color theory, to create custom products using industry standard software (i.e. Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop and Microsoft PowerPoint) and troubleshoot production issues.
  • Has the technical aptitude to quickly learn new software, processes, and design styles to meet daily mission requirements.
