Winter Co-op/Scientific Operations
Department Description:
As a Co-op Student in the Precision Medicine Project Management and Operations (PMO) Team, you will play a key role in supporting the development of new medicines and diagnostics working with GSK laboratories, external laboratory companies and specialists in precision medicine. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to bring to life the precision medicine scientific strategy within GSK clinical programs.
Job Description:
- Gain hands-on experience in the precision medicine specialty area, including Infectious Disease, Respiratory, Immunology and Oncology.
- Contribute to the precision medicine operational strategy by participating in project meetings, gaining an understanding of the novel technologies and new areas of science used in precision medicine and drug development.
- Work independently with different teams across the Precision Medicine (PMed) Organisation to support scientific initiatives including but not limited to:
- Development of process improvements through process mapping for Scientific and Data Operations.
- Develop and optimise departmental operation documents e.g. standardization of sample collection procedures across PMed.
- Generate new/update PMO templates where required to optimize efficiencies e.g sample management plans
- Monitor and optimize data updates for Vendor Oversight and Data Delivery tracking tools.
- Support cross-department Vendor Oversight harmonization efforts.
- Build PMO confidence in application of AI tools to Scientific and Data operations activities.
- Develop and present identified business proposals and opportunities to the PMO leadership team to gain endorsement as required.
Conclude Co-op assignment with a Presentation to the PMed PMO team.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Pursuing an MS or PhD in Life Science or MBA, or related disciplines.
- Strong interest in the pharmaceutical industry and precision medicine.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize large amounts of information.
- Proactive mindset and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout the 6-month assignment (January ~ June 2025).
- Must have an active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from a BS or MS degree program. Post-doctoral candidates are not eligible.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience or coursework in diagnostics, drug development, or clinical processes.Ideally this will include familiarity with data analytical skills and the ability to identify key points from large datasets
- Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills including the ability to work well with ambiguity and remain calm in intense situations
Benefits:
- While GSK embraces a flexible work environment, we do require certain positions to be onsite. Candidates who are hired for an on-site role or hybrid role, and reside outside of 50-miles from their assigned work location, are eligible for relocation stipend. This is a one-time payment to help offset housing & relocation expenses. Please refer to the position details for the requirements of each position.
