The State of New Hampshire, Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health Services has a part time vacancy for Lead Remediation Chemist.

SUMMARY:
Performs metals testing in environmental samples and works with laboratory partners on lead testing in schools and daycare facilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with major study in biological sciences, health sciences or physical sciences.
Experience: One year of experience in a laboratory performing duties similar to the assignments of the laboratory in which the vacancy is located.
License/Certification: Eligibility to hold a New Hampshire driver's license. For positions in the Division of Public Health Services, applicants must meet certification requirements of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for Clinical Laboratory Personnel (CLIA ’88).
Special Requirements: Visual deficiencies must not interfere with ability to perform laboratory analyses. Superior manual dexterity and coordination required. Must be willing and able to handle samples known to contain toxic chemicals such as carcinogens. Works flexible hours when the public health situation demands.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs laboratory tests on environmental specimens and reports the results to health professionals to assist in protecting the public health; maintains flexibility to cope with assignments that may vary from day to day depending on workload.
- Maintains and evaluates quality control records generated to ensure proper quality work has been performed and all work meets EPA and NELAC criteria.
- Enters data into Laboratory Information Management System to accurately track testing process.
- Participates in proficiency testing, and other quality assurance activities, to assure individual competence, to meet federal regulations and to enhance the Public Health Laboratories’ reputation.
- Prepares reagents and maintains inventory. Understands and follows all laboratory safety rules to protect self and co-workers.
