Cylinder Chemist
Clean Harbors in La Porte, TX is looking to add a Cylinder Chemist to their team. The Cylinder Chemist is responsible for processing and re-packaging of compressed gases.

Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
- Processing of compressed gases (Flaring, Hydrolysis);
- Re-packaging of compressed gas, reactive material and explosives;
- Sampling of unknown gases;
- Cold tapping/drilling/re-valving cylinders with inoperable valves;
- Use of proper PPE, Explosive Ordinance Disposal suits as needed;
- Assist with packaging, regulatory paperwork and shipment of large cylinder disposal projects;
- Remote access and stabilization of explosive and reactive chemicals;
- Assist with SOP and Work Plan Development;
- Assist with Compressed Gas Emergency Response and Reactive Materials Training classes;
- Dispose of highly hazardous materials;
- Assist with donations of unstable compressed gases and liquids;
- Supply management in their area of responsibility, and best management practices Including proper housekeeping.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required;
- BS/BA in Chemistry preferred;
- Explosive experience preferred (Will Train);
- Ability to travel;
- OSHA 40 a plus;
- Reactive Material Training preferred (Will Train);
- Lab Pack Training preferred (Will Train):
- DOT Compliance Training preferred (Will Train);
- 1+ Year(s) experience with Windows-based computer applications;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Previous experience in one or more of the following fields preferred: Warehouse, Quality Control, Chemical Handling, Laboratory, or Inventory Management;
