Keyholder — La Lune General Store

Keyholder — La Lune General Store, Montclair

We’re opening a general store on South Fullerton Avenue this November. Beautiful everyday things: French soaps, Portuguese tinned fish, Japanese kitchen brushes, linen, candles, books, and vintage we hunt down ourselves at estate sales and country auctions across New Jersey. We’re looking for one person to help us run it.

This is a small shop, which means you’ll do everything. Open and close. Ring up sales and wrap them beautifully. Unpack boxes and decide where things go. Steam linens, light candles, keep the flowers fresh, and know enough about the lavender honey to tell someone why it’s worth it. The part we’re most excited about: we want someone who can photograph and film the shop. Not polished ad content, the real thing. Hands unfolding a sweater. A box of vintage plates being unpacked. The way the gold leaf on the window looks at four o’clock in December. If you follow shops like Watson Kennedy or The Vermont Country Store and understand why their photos make you want to stand in the room, we want to talk to you.

You’d be a good fit if you: Like talking to strangers, and are good at it Notice when something looks wrong on a shelf and fix it without being asked Can be trusted with keys, a register, and an empty shop Have an eye. We can teach the rest.

The details 12–20 hours a week, mostly weekday afternoons and evenings, with some weekends Flexible scheduling, we’ll work around your classes or other commitments $18–20 an hour depending on experience Staff discount, and first look at the vintage To apply: send a note telling us about yourself and three photos you’ve taken of anything. A room, a meal, a shelf, your grandmother’s kitchen. We’re more interested in how you see than where you’ve worked.
