Social Media & Digital Marketing - Paid Intern

Social Media & Digital Marketing Intern - Paid

Local filmmaker and author is seeking a paid Social Media & Digital Marketing Intern to help build awareness and increase presales of the historical novel John Clarke: The Fight for Soul Liberty and its related feature-film project.

About the Project

John Clarke: The Fight for Soul Liberty tells the gripping story of Dr. John Clarke (1609–1676), a persecuted Baptist minister who became a rebel against religious tyranny—defying the Puritans, challenging the Crown, and risking treason to confront those who claimed the power to dictate how others must worship—ultimately securing an unprecedented guarantee of Religious Liberty for the Colony of Rhode Island, 113 years before the founding of America.

The historical novel is part of a larger feature-film project now in development, giving the selected intern an opportunity to work on a campaign that bridges publishing, film, American history, Religious Freedom, and historical storytelling.

About the Opportunity

This is an opportunity for a creative, motivated 4th year or graduate student who wants hands-on experience building and executing a real-world social media campaign for an independently produced historical novel and feature-film project.

This is a part-time, 30-day paid internship, approximately 12–15 hours per week / 2–3 hours per day, with the potential to extend. The position is primarily remote, with a weekly in-person meeting at a mutually agreed-upon public location in the Lynchburg area. Compensation will be discussed with the selected candidate.

The intern will work with an established collection of project materials, photography, video, historical content, book information, and approved messaging to develop and execute a coordinated social media drip campaign designed to build awareness, reach new audiences, drive traffic, and increase book sales.

There is plenty of room for creativity. The right person will be encouraged to bring fresh ideas, original graphics, engaging social media ads, and new approaches to reaching potential readers, while working within the project's established visual identity and messaging. The branding itself is already established, so consistency in typography, imagery, messaging, and overall presentation is important.

The successful candidate must be self-driven, creative, goal-oriented, deadline-oriented, and capable of working independently. We are looking for someone who can take an approved campaign direction and run with it—creating original graphics and social media ads, developing engaging campaign content, maintaining a consistent posting schedule, and tracking progress toward campaign goals, while remaining focused on increasing awareness, traffic, and book sales.
