About Us

One Off Furniture is a San Francisco-based custom metalwork and fabrication studio. We design and build high-quality, one-of-a-kind pieces for clients across the Bay Area — everything from furniture to architectural installations. Our shop is a hands-on, creative environment run by a small, skilled team of fabricators who take pride in their craft.

The Role

We're looking for a part-time Studio Assistant to help keep the shop running smoothly day to day. This is a varied, hands-on role — part shop support, part logistics, part team coordination. No two days are exactly the same. You'll work closely with our studio manager and fabrication team, and you'll learn a lot about how a working fabrication studio operates.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is curious, organized, and genuinely enjoys being useful in a creative, physical environment.

What You'll Do

• Walk the shop regularly to check supply and material levels — identify what's running low and coordinate orders with the studio manager
• Run errands to hardware stores, suppliers, and vendors around the city as needed (having your own car is preferred; use of the studio vehicle may also be available)
• Keep the shop clean and organized — tools returned, surfaces cleared, materials stored properly
• Do a daily tool check: make sure equipment is in good working order and flag anything that needs attention
• Check in with the fabrication team about their needs — materials, supplies, anything coming up
• Help receive and log deliveries and incoming orders
• Pitch in on general studio tasks as they come up

What We're Looking For

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in industrial design, fine arts, architecture, construction, or a related hands-on field — or equivalent real-world experience
• Some familiarity with tools and workshop environments — you don't need to be an expert, but you should be comfortable in a shop setting
• Organized, reliable, self-directed — you notice what needs doing & do it
• Enthusiastic and coachable — you ask questions and take feedback well
• Based in San Francisco and available consistently part-time (roughly 15–20 hours per week)
• Car access preferred for running errands
