Design & Digital Assets Intern - LCA Dean's Office

Location: on campus, in-person position, LCA Dean's Office (Marcus Hall 404)

Overview & Job Description:

The College of Liberal and Creative Arts at San Francisco State University is seeking a talented and productive Design & Digital Assets Intern to join our team. This part-time, student position offers hands-on experience creating marketing materials and visual communications for the LCA Dean’s Office, LCA Live, Morrison, and college-wide programs, events, and initiatives. The intern will collaborate closely with Dean’s Office staff to develop brand-aligned print and digital assets while also assisting with front-office operations, event support, and administrative tasks as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities

70% – Design & Digital Assets

  • Design flyers, posters, digital signage, and promotional graphics for LCA programs, events, and initiatives.
  • Create visual assets for social media, newsletters, presentations, web content, and campus communications.
  • Develop branded marketing materials and adapt assets for LCA Live, Morrison, and college-wide needs while maintaining the college’s visual identity.
  • Maintain and organize Canva templates, shared brand assets, and reusable design files; prepare print-ready files and production specifications when needed.
  • Proofread and quality-check materials for accessibility, accuracy, readability, visual engagement, and brand consistency.

20% – Front Office Operations & Customer Service

  • Greet students, staff, faculty, administrators, and external stakeholders; provide directions and hospitality support for meetings.
  • Answer phones, route inquiries, manage office traffic, and respond to general questions in person, by phone, and via email.
  • Process forms, mail, and deliveries; scan/archive documents; and help maintain office equipment and shared spaces.
  • Distribute mail to LCA departments and assist with Lost & Found as needed.

5% – Event Support

  • Assist with event set-up, registration, hospitality, guest flow, and clean-up.
  • Work with staff and student employees to help execute events successfully.
  • Provide other on-site event support as assigned

5% – General Office Support and Other Duties as Assigned

  • Support Dean’s Office staff with administrative tasks, supply inventory, and office organization.
  • Assist the LCA Service Desk with facility requests and perform other office or college-wide duties as assigned. 

 

Schedule Options Available: (~10 hours/week)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled and in good standing as a student at San Francisco State University
  • Experience using Canva or a similar design platform
  • Strong visual design, layout, proofreading, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Ability to create and adapt brand-aligned materials for digital and print use
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines
  • Professionalism and discretion with sensitive and confidential information
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Federal Work-Study Program eligible
  • Prior office or customer service experience
  • Experience preparing print-ready files or maintaining reusable templates and shared brand assets
  • Experience supporting events or communications in an academic or professional setting
