Graduate Student Ambassador

Are you enthusiastic about your graduate student experience at San Francisco State University?  Interested in joining our team?   

  • Would you like to share your enthusiasm for graduate study with prospective students? 
  • Are you active on campus and in the community? 
  • Do you have customer service experience? 
  • Can you commit to 10-20 hours/week (excluding campus closures) starting June 2026 until the end of May 2027? 

  

Graduate Student Ambassador Position 

  

The Graduate Student Ambassador Program offers a paid opportunity for current graduate students to participate in outreach and mentorship activities during the academic year beginning in Summer 2026.  

 

Graduate Student Ambassador Responsibilities 

 

  • Engage and mentor newly admitted graduate students 
  • Chat with prospective graduate students by email, phone, and zoom
  • Host Graduate Studies (GS) related workshops or represent GS at on-campus workshops  
  • Participate in and manage division social media campaigns 
  • Participate in Ambassador Spotlight activities 
  • Assist the Graduate Studies Office with front desk duties including phone inquiries, student walk-ins, and other office tasks. 

If hired, you must attend mandatory (paid) trainings.  This position is on-site (in-office) only.

Expected Hours: 10-20 hours a week 

Rate: $20.00/hour 

  

Prerequisites for joining 

·     SF State graduate student in their second semester or second year.  

·     Be in good academic standing 

·     Submit application materials by May 31 

 

 

Application materials include: 

  1. Cover letter prepared by you (500-1000 words) describing your graduate student experience, career goals, interest in the ambassador program, and customer service experience. 
  2. CV or resume   

Deadline to Apply: May 31, 2026 

  

Graduate Student Ambassadors will be expected to sign a contract for required duties including but not limited to: 

  

·     Mentoring incoming graduate students 

·     Chatting with prospective graduate applicants 

·     Leading student discussion panels 

·     Managing email inquiries and front desk duties (phone, walk-ins and other offices tasks)

·     Facilitating 1:1 zoom appointments with prospective student emails
