Junior Interior Designer / Design Assistant

Part-Time | $25–$45/hour (based on experience)

Hybrid: Remote + site visits & client meetings

About the Role

frenchCALIFORNIA is looking for a Junior Interior Designer / Design Assistant to support our growing studio. This role is ideal for a recent graduate, last-year student, or early-career designer looking to gain hands-on experience across all phases of high-end interior design projects.

You’ll work closely with the design team on residential, staging, and select commercial projects—getting real exposure to concept development, FF&E, site coordination, installations, and photoshoots.

This is a growth-oriented role with mentorship, responsibility, and baked-in learning.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist across all design phases, from concept through installation

     
  • Help develop mood boards, design presentations, and visual concepts

     
  • Support FF&E research, sourcing, and product organization

     
  • Assist with space planning and layout development

     
  • Help place, track, and organize orders

     
  • Coordinate with internal team members, vendors, and outside partners

     
  • Support on-site installs, deliveries, and styling

     
  • Assist with project schedules, budgets, and documentation

     
  • Help prepare and support photoshoots of completed projects

     
  • Contribute to social media and studio content when needed

     

What We’re Looking For

  • Background in interior design (student, recent grad, or early career)

     
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

     
  • Comfort using design software (SketchUp and AutoCAD knowledge is a plus)

     
  • Strong computer skills (Adobe, Google Workspace, etc.)

     
  • Interest in FF&E, materials, and sourcing

     
  • Willingness to be on site when needed and help things run smoothly

     
  • Curious, proactive, and eager to learn

     
  • Social media awareness or experience is a plus

     

Experience

  • 0–2 years in an interior design studio or related environment

     
  • Internship experience welcome

     
  • Portfolio required (student work accepted)
