Part-Time Dance Instructor

Part-Time Dance Instructor – Youth Movement Programs

Organization: JMM Dance Co.
Location: Community Centers throughout San Benito and Santa Clara Counties (Hollister, Gilroy, San Juan Bautista, Morgan Hill, Mountain View)
Compensation: $22–$28 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule: 4–10 hours per week | Afternoon and evening classes

JMM Dance Co. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children build confidence, coordination, and emotional expression through movement-based programs. Our classes take place in community centers and provide welcoming environments where youth can explore dance, develop physical skills, and grow socially and emotionally.

Programs offered include Princess Ballet, Dancers Combo, Jr. Hip Hop Tumble, Cheer & Confidence, and Parent & Me movement classes for young children and families.

Position Overview

JMM Dance Co. is seeking a Part-Time Dance Instructor with experience teaching children to lead movement and dance classes at community center locations. Instructors are responsible for independently teaching classes, guiding students through structured activities, and creating a positive, engaging learning environment.

This role is ideal for instructors who enjoy working with youth and want to contribute to community-based dance and movement programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead children’s dance and movement classes independently
• Guide students through warm-ups, skill development, and choreography
• Create a positive, encouraging classroom environment
• Manage class structure and transitions effectively
• Communicate with families and community center staff as needed
• Prepare simple choreography or creative movement activities appropriate for age groups
• Support end-of-session demonstrations or informal showcases when applicable

Qualifications

• Previous experience teaching dance or movement classes to children
• Ability to lead a class independently and manage group dynamics
• Strong communication and classroom management skills
• Passion for working with youth in a positive and supportive environment
• Dance background in styles such as ballet, hip hop, creative movement, cheer, or related disciplines

Preferred Background
