Graduate Assistant – Athletic Communications

Augusta University Athletics is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Assistant in Athletic Communications. This position provides significant hands-on experience in NCAA Division II athletics media relations, live event coverage, and digital content strategy while working directly with the Director of Athletic Media Relations.

Augusta University competes at the NCAA Division I level in men’s and women’s golf and at the NCAA Division II level in all other sports.

This is a paid, tuition-supported position. Candidates must be admitted into a graduate degree program at Augusta University to be eligible for hire.

Position Details
Compensation: $15–$18 per hour
Hours: 20–25 hours per week (including evenings and weekends)
Tuition: Graduate tuition covered in accordance with university graduate assistant policies
Fees: Student fees are the responsibility of the graduate assistant
Start Date: August 1

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in writing, editing, and distributing press releases, game recaps, previews, and feature stories for Augusta Athletics.
  • Serve as the primary media contact for assigned sports, including cross country, track & field, and softball, handling press relations, statistics, and website content.
  • Manage live stats using NCAA LiveStats, StatCrew, or similar statistical software during games and events.
  • Create engaging written and digital content for AugustaJags.com and official social media platforms ( Facebook, Instagram).
  • Assist in designing and producing graphics, game programs, and promotional materials.
  • Capture and edit photo and video content for digital and social media use.
  • Assist with media relations support on game days, including credentialing, statistics distribution, and postgame materials.
  • Maintain and update historical records, rosters, and student-athlete bios.
  • Assist with nominating student-athletes for conference, regional, and national awards.
  • Collaborate with marketing and game operations staff to enhance fan engagement and promotional efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletic Media Relations.
