Worship Leader Intern

Job Requirements (may vary based on candidate)

  • Flexibility in navigating different music styles
  • Skills and experience in the areas of worship leading, directing vocal parts, and/or playing an instrument (preferably guitar and/or piano)
  • Key participant in worship services: May involve leading, co-leading, background vocals, teaching vocal parts, choir directing, or band, depending on the week/season/situation (includes a Tuesday evening rehearsal most weeks)
  • Mentoring/training young musicians
  • Provide worship and/or specials for funerals as needed
  • Practice and prepare for rehearsals and services outside of paid hours
  • Administrative and other duties as assigned
  • Create mini-mid and capstone projects
  • Availability for approximately 20 hours per week (may be more or less depending on candidate availability and skill set) including service times. This particular internship may result in an offer for a part or full time permanent position.
  • Bethesda Christian Church Sunday & Wednesday Services, and Young Adult activities required for the duration of internship that are not included in hours unless otherwise noted by mentor. 
  • Staff meetings & internship specific training on Mondays

Learning Outcomes

  • Spiritual Development - The intern will prepare and lead the worship team in scripture-based encouragement/reflections.
  • Ministry Competency - The intern will design worship sets, adapt plans as needed, and manage behind-the-scenes administrative responsibilities.
  • Character & Discipline - The intern will reflect on their own effectiveness (in both spiritual development and ministry competency) and formulate growth-centered goals. 
  • Teamwork & Unity - The intern will learn how to analyze team strengths and dynamics to produce unified worship sets.
