Job description

Fashion Design Assistant

We are a boutique fashion design firm located in North Jersey seeking an eager, motivated, self-starting individual to join our team. Asian Apparels designs apparel for multiple leading brands across the United States and Canada. The Design Assistant will have the opportunity to learn while adding value to the team’s day to day office activities as well as gaining insights into the design and manufacturing space. This is a wonderful opportunity for an individual who is looking to develop their fashion design background in a dynamic space.

This position is intended for recent graduates or individuals who have just completed college. Having one or two prior internships in fashion or apparel design is required as it will help ensure they have a foundational understanding of the design process and can integrate smoothly into the team.

It is also important that candidates have a dependable mode of transportation. This role will occasionally require in-person errands such as returns, sample drop-offs, and local shopping, and candidates should be comfortable participating in these tasks as part of their responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Initiating tech packs, including detailed sketches, wash direction, garment construction, fabric construction, trimmings, etc.

· Organizing trend decks for seasonal client presentations

· Receiving fabric swatches and organizing for the designers

· Managing the fabric library and keeping it organized

· Working hand in hand with designers to create PowerPoint presentations for client meetings

· Assist designers with day to day office administration duties and organization

· Working hand in hand with designers to create initial AI sketches

· Participate, capture and organize notes in all team meetings

· Organizing clothing samples which includes steaming, prepping, and shipping to the NY office

· Hanging and tagging samples when shipment is received and preparing it for the designers

This is a new role and is evolving. It's a wonderful opportunity for someone looking to jump start their career in fashion and grow with our firm.
