Process Development & Manufacturing Summer Intern - Stanford Laboratory for Cell & Gene Medicine
2026 Summer Internship, Process Development & Manufacturing, Stanford Laboratory for Cell and Gene Medicine (LCGM)
Stanford Laboratory for Cell & Gene Medicine (LCGM) is an innovative, state-of-the-art, multi-product manufacturing facility that develops cell and gene-based therapies for early phase clinical trials in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) FDA regulations. LCGM’s projects represent diverse therapeutic modalities including hematopoietic stem cells and host alloantigen-specific regulatory T cells to prevent Graft versus Host Disease, genetically engineered immune cells (T-cells) for cancer immunotherapy and complex immune syndromes and CRISPR gene correction for sickle cell disease amongst others. A unique biotech startup in an academic environment, LCGM provides an exciting opportunity to work with world class scientists who support translational medicine.
Internship Details:
- To educate and train the next generation of cell and gene therapy professionals, LCGM offers a unique summer internship opportunity for undergraduate students
- LCGM will offer a 10-week, full-time, in-person, summer internship opportunity from June 15 - August 21, 2026
- Internship available with the Process Development & Manufacturing team
- $5,000 stipend
Process Development & Manufacturing (PDM): PDM teams develop large-scale, closed system, cGMP-compliant procedures to manufacture innovative cell and gene therapies. The Intern’s learning experience MAY include:
- LCGM cell and gene therapy project overview, vector process development
- Aseptic technique; cell thaw, expansion, cryopreservation, scale-up; upstream/downstream
- Equipment learning: control rate freezer; automated cell counter, flow cytometry, TFF
- Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Documentation Practices (GDP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Analytical assays, Titration assays for Vector titer determination
The students will also participate in on-demand and LIVE lunch and learn sessions, career panel and other enrichment opportunities. The program culminates with a presentation in front of their peers, faculty, lab mentors, and other Stanford scientists.
