Ohio Poultry Association Internship
Summer 2026
Position Description:
The Ohio Poultry Association (OPA) Summer Intern will play an essential role in supporting OPA’s full-time staff with programming and events, with a primary focus on activities at the Ohio State Fair. Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on the intern’s interests, skill set and availability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a key staff member for OPA’s Hatching Unit exhibits at the Ohio State Fair and COSI Farm Days (August 12 – 16), including setting and transporting eggs, animal care, staffing the exhibits during events, engaging with the public, and managing daily operations.
- Assist with OPA-sponsored events at the Ohio State Fair, including event preparation, on-site support, and general coordination.
- Support the OPA Ohio State Fair Food Booths by helping with setup, daily operations, supply procurement, staffing, and teardown following the fair.
- Capture photos and content for OPA’s social media channels as directed.
- Assist with bird health programs, including the National Poultry Improvement Program (NPIP) and related regulatory documentation.
Schedule:
This is a full-time internship averaging 40 hours per week. Some weekends will be required, and interns must be available to attend the full Ohio State Fair (July 29 - August 9).
Compensation:
A $680 weekly stipend will be provided along with mileage reimbursement for OPA approved travel.
Qualifications:
Applicants should be pursuing a degree in agricultural communications, animal sciences, or a related field. While prior knowledge of poultry and modern agriculture is preferred, it is not required. Applicants must have reliable transportation. Start and end dates will be determined based on the selected intern’s availability and OPA programming needs.
